John Lavery
John qualified in 1980 and is also admitted to the New York Bar. John set up his own legal practice in that year which subsequently merged with Ray Gilmartin & Co. to become Lavery Kirby Gilmartin. John is now the Chairman of the firm. John specialises in company and commercial law and is a trusted adviser and in some cases a member of the Board of a number of small and medium sized enterprises. John has many years experience in advising companies on various matters that affect them including corporate governance, shareholder arrangements and disputes, mergers acquisitions and joint ventures, fundraisings and commercial contracts. John is not a member of the Law Society of Ireland.

James Flynn (Managing Partner)
James qualified in 1994 and before joining Lavery Kirby Gilmartin worked for Robert Walsh & Co., solicitors. James is the Managing Partner of the firm and his practice encompasses general commercial and commercial property work including acting for a number of property developers. James has a particular expertise in construction contracts and in projects related work. He has also through acting for one particular client gained significant experience in the field of renewable energy and has advised on the myriad of legal issues which impact on the construction, development and operation of a renewable energy project.

Neil trained with McCann FitzGerald, Solicitors and qualifed in 1994. He moved to Matheson Ormsby Prentice, Solicitors in 1997 where he practised as a company and commercial solicitor, he was appointed a partner there in 2002 and joined Lavery Kirby Gilmartin in 2004. Neil has long experience in company law and corporate governance and has written and spoken widely on these topics, he is also experienced in mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and re-organisation, venture capital and private equity, joint ventures and commercial arrangements such as franchising, distribution and agency agreements. Neil has worked on some significant transactions which has occured in the Irish market in recent years including the €1.8billion sale of Airtricity. Neil has a particular interest in the healthcare, life sciences and technology sectors and has worked with a number of companies in these sectors. He is also a member of the business law committee of the Law Society of Ireland and is a council member and company secretary of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber of Commerce.

Gavin Blake
Gavin trained in Eugene F. Collins solicitors and qualifed in 2006. He also has obtained a Diploma in Corporate Law and Governance from the Law Society of Ireland. Gavin focuses chiefly on general commercial and commercial property work with a particular emphasis on projects in the renewable energy sector. Gavin is the company secretary of a number of client companies.

Mark trained with J Buckley & Co. Solicitors in Bray, Co. Wicklow and qualified in 2007 as a general practice solicitor specialising in Civil Litigation and Probate. In late 2007 he moved to Babingdon and Croasdaile solicitors in Derry, Northern Ireland and was entered on to the roll of solicitors in Northern Ireland in 2009. Mark has gained considerable experience in commercial litigation while acting on behalf of property developers, companies and financial institutions. Mark has also acted and advised parties in contentious and non-contentious probate litigation.
In addition Mark has acted for a number of financial institutions and large companies both local and national in the provision of debt recovery procedures and insolvency advices with particular reference to international insolvency and the jurisdictional/cross border elements that arise from international business.
